My App (2): Save to Cloud

Please be noted that this App was removed from App Store in May, 2012.
Reason: The App's concept of using iCloud as a cloud disk to save files is not aligned with Apple's perception. Apologize for any inconvenience caused.

This is an App created based on iOS5's iCloud Technology. (Demo)

Main functions:
1. Save Files to iCloud and automatically shares between different iOS devices.
2. Save Accounts(username/password) to iCloud and automatically shares between different iOS devices.

User Tips:
On Mac, you can interact (drag files in, delete files, edit files, create folders...)with your iCloud documents on a Mac at path: /Users/Your_User_Name/Library/Mobile Documents/MUPXVM5Q6W~com~creiapp~fileincloud/Documents

Second Tab: Files
Do all the things with file. e.g. Move, Copy, Rename, send as Email attachment, Send local file to iCould, download iCloud files to local, share the file iCloud link to friend for them to download
You can even open unzip a .zip file with this App.

Common ways to add files to the "Save to Cloud":
-->
  1.  connect iOS device to iTunes, drag and drop via iTunes Files sharing.
  2.  open email attachment from "Mail" App.
  3.  open file from any other App that has an option for "Open in...".
  4.  upload image/video from Album via “Loader”

Third Tab: Accounts This tab was developed for people who don't wanna memorize dozens of website logins accounts/passwords. Save the account information in iCloud, you can view it in any iOS device with your iCloud ID set up.

Strongly suggested you set an App Passcode if you want to save any information here. With App passcode, people wont be able to read your accounts information even they steal your device and jailbreak it. The reason is your account information is secured by complex encryption.
Have to mention that, the Passcode login for "Save to Cloud" is special because people wont be able to figure out your passcode from your fingers movement during login. The number pad is generated randomly every time.

I will be glad to hear your comments after using the App. Thank you very much.

  9. Thanks for your quick response. Here are more details on my problem: i have already files in the "cloud", but when I use to send e-mail the link to download the file, I get this error message : failed to generate the sharing link for iCloud file. This does not always occur, but only with some files. I have an iPad2 and an iPod touch last model and in both devices have the same problem. Best Regards

  10. Ok, noted with thanks. Do u have a certain file that you never succeed in seeding the sharing link?

  14. Basic question. I have no problem getting files into the local area, but can not get to move to icloud. When I read the directions, there is a reference to options under the edit tab, such as "move to cloud", but none of those options appear at the right arrow, only an option to rename. What am I missing?

    1. Thanks for your feedback. This means the App Design is not as simple as intuitive, and I will mark down in the app-to-do list.
Press Edit button >> Select the files ()>> near the bottom, above black tabbar, there is a light blue toolbar >> press the mid button. Then you have options for ""
      Send to iCloud

  15. I'm having difficulty getting the files to show up on the mac. I've tried rebooting and refreshing wifi. The files are synchronised between my iPad and iPhone and I can see them under the iCloud storage management, however in the mac user library the app is nowhere to be found. Any tips?

    1. Hi Daniel,
Thanks for your feedback. Please make sure you are not looking at Macintosh HD>>Library, and it should be Macintosh HD>>Users>>YourName>>Library>>Mobile Documents. User's library is hidden by default. You can use cmd to unhidden it.(Reference:http://www.ehow.com/how_2274100_hidden-files-mac-os-x.html)
This way we access the document directly in user's Library>>Mobile Documents>>is a private way.I was able to create folders, edit files, drag in files, delete files, but it is not working as expected now. At the time, I was so excited to find this way, and happily share it to "Save to Cloud's" users, but Apple might have seen this as a "Bug" recently, and fixed it in their recent system updates. I believe there should be a convenient official way to access iCloud document provided by Apple, either in icloud.com or Mac Finder. I will wait and see any improvement on this for "OS Mountain Lion". The worst case for me is that I have to write a MAC client App to work with iOS App.

    2. Hi, yes I got the right library. I'm a fairly new mac user and it stumped me a little how to get there at first. In finder > CMD+SHIFT+G > "~/Library/". Did the trick. I can see my other iCloud apps there. I would love to see a Mac app for this. I think it would compliment your apps greatly. I believe that they are merging the MobileMe service with iCloud which should bring the file hosting/sharing capabilities to iCloud. It is unfortunate that it is your app that is being affected by this. I can share with my other apps in this way.

    3. I was also having this issue. I was able to access the hidden library file using a program I installed called Funter which allows you to hide and unhide files, but once I was in the folder the save to cloud app was not there. I could see all my other icloud apps and I knew I was in the right place so I did 2 things. I plugged my Idevice and did a back up locally through itunes, then did another back up using icloud, then rebooted both the idevice and my macbookpro and the app was there. Just to make sure I add and uploaded a few more file via one of my idevices to the cloud and it showed up the folder without haveing to plug anything in again. Hope that helps for those still have this issue.

Great app BTW, exactly what I was looking for.

    4. Hi Tony,

Thanks for your reply. Appreciate a lot that your shared your experience here.

I am also thinking about another possible reason. Time. It may take some time, for the folder to be there. We don't see the folder after we just install the App "Save to Cloud" and push some documents to iCloud.

  16. Hi,
I just purchased your app. I have a question: i uploaded 2 files to icloud on my iphone en created a new folder in icloud with my ipad. Tille now I am not able to see these files/folder vice versa on my devices? Do I need to make user accounts or am I doing something wrong?

    With regards

    Robert

  17. I'm having issues with getting files that are stored in my iCloud to download to my iPad 3. On my iPhone 4s all folders and files are there and they are all visible when I go to general usage and look at what is backed up to the cloud all the files are there. And all the other folders and files have downloaded without any problelms. I deleted the app from my iPad and reinstalled but it shows they are downloading but the files just sit there at 0% with the download arrow and nothing happens. Any suggestions ?

    1. hi, Tony,
Loading the iCloud files to your second device is not very fast depending on your network and iCloud server from Apple.

Another thing is, the files are not downloaded all together, should be 1-3 files by 1-3 files. Maybe, some files are actually being downloading in a folder, but you are looking at the top level directory.

  18. Ive checked both the top level directory and inside the actual folder that they are trying to download from. Im still getting the issue and I'm connected to my home wifi which has a download connection speed of 20mps so I know it's not that, not to mention my iPhone is right next to me running on the same wifi network and any changes or up or down to the cloud from the phone are working. You mentioned that it downloads the files from the cloud 1-3 files by 1-3 files. I'm seeing the download arrow next to 6 files and they are all at 0%. I've even set the screen lock to never and left the app running in the foreground for hours at a time and still nothing. Also if I try to delete any of the files trying to be downloaded it won't let me cause it says it's still being downloaded. I've even tried to delete the entire folder itself using the edit function and it says 16 files are still downloading, which matches up with what should be in the folder when added to the others that are already there. It's seems no matter what I do it will not let delete, edit or change anything even after deleting the app completely and re-installing. I ended up emailing the files to myself from my phone and then saved them in the local folder on the iPad and even after doing that I still can't get them to the cloud side. Could it be a glitch with the new iPad 3 maybe ?

    1. Hi Tony,
Thanks for your comments. You impressed me by trying so many different ways in order to solve a problem. :) You much be an Engineering guy.
If the file is not fully downloaded from iCloud, I wrote the code to prevent user to do any further handling with the file, because that might make the file corrupted.
I am interested to know how you expect the App to help your productivity, so that I can work on from there.
the problem you mentioned about running the App in theNewiPad, I will look into it. Thank you very much

  19. Well since it will not let me do anything with that folder on the iPad (it keeps trying to download so I cannot delete the folder or any of the files) I created another folder and added the files from what was all ready in the cloud or what was already in my local folder. My goal with your app is to keep all the files that I wish I had while on the road at my disposal by using The cloud to gain access no matter where or what device I'm using. The current iCloud service from apple is great for backing up contacts and emails but is only limited to pages, numbers and keynote when it comes to document files. Having both an iPad, iPhone, along with my office servers which are windows based allows me to handle simple tasks that would otherwise normally require that I wait until I can get to a computer.

If you want to delete "dead" files, you can delete from "iPhone/iPad>> Setting>> iCloud>> Documents & Data>>Save to Cloud.."
